What gives whisky its character? While most of the time the focus is on the casks it is aged in, it's the new make spirit that's matured in them that starts the whole process.

In this masterclass whisky writer Dave Broom and Diageo whisky specialist Stuart Morrison will break down the factors that give new make its flavour and compare four new make spirits to the whiskies that they will eventually become.

We'll be trying four whiskies and four new make samples sourced specially for the class. It's an excellent opportunity to find out why your favourite whiskies taste how they do.

This is a class for those who want to delve deeper into the world of flavour and do so with two experts who understand new make and maturation inside and out.
