At Black Tot, we learnt that by blending flavours from
different regions, you can layer flavours to create a rum of bold complexity.
Our blending inspiration was born from the Royal Navy, who were the pioneers of rum blending - sourcing rums from across the Caribbean and further afield.
Additionally, by never emptying their vats, the navy unlocked a delicious complexity within the rum.
Black Tot references the day the Royal Navy ended their over 200-year tradition of daily rum rations - Black Tot Day, 31st July 1970.
The remaining navy rum from that day was decanted into vessels called 'flagons'. Years later, our founder Sukhinder Singh tasted the rum from a flagon for the first time and he was astonished by the flavour. He had never tried anything like it before.
This kickstarted an obsession, an obsession to create bold, robust rums taking learnings from the navy and adapting our own ingenuity to create a portfolio of rums like no other.
The obsession created Black Tot Rum.
