Whisky Works is a company within a company, giving Whyte & Mackay blender Gregg Glass an outlet for his special, experimental projects. With grand plans already in progress, Gregg and his team will be releasing pairs of whiskies, focusing not only experimental and innovative blends, but also digging deep in the Whyte & Mackay warehouses to discover hidden gems.
The first pair of whiskies were a 29-year-old single grain whisky – Glaswegian – and a 10-year-old blended malt – King of Trees. The former is a vatting of casks from across the Whyte & Mackay stocks, bringing together the different character that you get from whiskies matured in different parts of the warehouse. The latter is an experimental blended malt whisky, marrying whiskies from two distilleries and then finishing part of the vatting in new Scottish oak.
Gregg's already given us some hints about the future of Whisky Works, and we're hoping to see something quite exciting at Whisky Show this year.
