Founder Henric Molin opened a hotel on the island and, as an avid whisky collector and fan, he built a distillery to keep his staff busy during the quiet months – Spirit of Hven’s first distillation was in 2008. Henric is a scientist at heart and he is very proud of the distillery’s gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) machine, which he uses to analyse not only Hven’s spirit, but also samples from a quarter of the world’s distilleries.
