Sukhinder Singh and Jason Vaswani are two of the leading lights in the world of old and rare whiskies. Their knowledge of the subject is as wide as any malting floor and as deep as any mashtun.
One of the topics they have long wanted to celebrate is Independent Bottling. In this class we’ll be exploring that side of the industry, some of the characters and the profiles of the different companies and sampling some truly historic liquid.
It is not too an overstatement to say this is a tasting of icons. We’ll be tasting Talisker from 1951 bottled by Gordon & MacPhail, a 1962 Mortlach from Samaroli, a 1972 Clynelish from Single Malts of Scotland. We’ll be tasting a SMWS Springbank from 1965, a Signatory Glenfarclas from 1964 and an Old Pulteney bottled by Cadenhead’s in the 1960s. These are all whiskies which have gone down in the history books, offering a glimpse of a gone world.
