The jewels in Diageo’s crown, Lagavulin and Talisker are distilleries that inspire a passionate devotion in their fans. For this session we will be joined by Dr Stuart Morrison and Dr Greg Bruce master blenders for Diageo to share some of their favourite drams that represent these distilleries past, present and future.
It is easy to romanticise island distilleries, particularly ones as remote as Lagavulin on Islay and Talisker on Skye. Perched on the shore, their warehouse walls battered by the waves, the very sea air seems to permeate everything about them. Now they are sites of pilgrimage but these remote locations originally served to keep their stills well away from prying eyes. Which doubtless adds to the romantic story.
More recently, both distilleries have become icons of single malt whisky with famous fans of both in no short supply. This tasting is a chance to meet two of the people behind contemporary Lagavulin and Talisker and taste some drams from the archives and some that have been drawn from the cask.
