I grew up in the village of Tarbert, only few steps from the distillery doors. After studying Hospitality Management in Glasgow and working in the restaurant industry there, I felt a strong pull home to my roots on the Isle of Harris. In December 2014, I joined the distillery as part of the Tarbert 10, the original ten members of staff, and began my journey as our Guest Services Manager. My involvement in the sensory and quality aspects of our Isle of Harris Gin naturally led me to develop an interest in whisky production and tasting. The past 18 months has been spend focusing on learning the art of becoming a Blender. It meant I was involved in the recipe creation for The Hearach and other future expressions alongside learning the art and science of maturation and cask selection. I recently passed my General Certificate in Distilling through the Institute of Brewing and Distilling. It’s a lifetime of learning and everyday is exciting! The best part of working at the distillery for me is, the people and the pride we have in what we've achieved over the years.
