High West was founded in 2006 by David and Jane Perkins, after a trip to the Maker's Mark's distillery in Kentucky inspired them to make their own whiskey.
They relocated to Utah and started building. While Utah is no longer known for its whiskey-making, before the last legal still disappeared in 1870, there were numerous distilleries across the state, and, most famously, Utah cast the 36th vote required to end prohibition.
Starting from a small still beside a saloon and restaurant, the distillery has grew over the years and moved to a new location in 2015. Now, along with whiskies sourced and blended from other distillers, High West is curating a range that is loved around the world.
