When Michel Couvreur started working as a negociant in Burgundy in 1951, buy and selling wine, he didn't realise that his future lay far to the northwest, in Scotland.

His journey into Scotch whisky begun proper in 1978, when he started buying casks of whisky and laying them down to mature in his cellars in Burgundy. Over the next 35 years, he continued to grow the business, experimenting with casks and maturation to create a range of excellent whiskies.

Michel Couvreur passed awain on 17 August 2013, but his legacy goes on – his cellars of whisky continue to be released, each with his name on the label.
