The distillery was once a former box factory supplying for export to England, hence the name.  High Coast Distillery was created by brothers Per and Mats de Wahl, who distilled their first drops of spirit in late 2010 after many years of planning and preparation. They released their first whisky only two years ago, which has received much international praise.

There are two main styles: unpeated and peated. The unpeated whisky is fruity in character and is made from home-grown Swedish barley, whereas the peated whisky is made from barley sourced from Belgium that has been dried with peat from Islay.
