Founded in 1987 by homebrewer Ken Brooker, Harviestoun has steadily grown over the past thirty years. Starting from Ken's shed, the company opened its brewery in 1987 with its first, and at the time only, beer Harviestoun Real Ale. With the Scottish brewing scene lacking quality real ales, the new beer was incredibly popular and pushed the brewery to expand and work on new recipes.

Harviestoun continues to go from strength to strength, with a number of prestigious awards under its belt – including multiple CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain gold medals for Schiehallion lager and a Supreme Champion award for Bitter and Twisted – and the range has expanded to include whisky-cask-matured beers, released well before the current craze of cask-matured ale.
