White Peak Distillery was established in 2016 by co-founders Max and Claire Vaughan.  The vision was to create authentic spirits from Derbyshire and establish a destination to celebrate the craft of whisky-making.

Wire Works Whisky is the regions very first single malt, with the inaugural release launched in February 2022.

Provenance, heritage and flavour are at the heart of the Distillery ethos and whisky-making process, and its home at the former Johnson & Nephew Wire Works is celebrated within the whisky brand. The Distillery’s woodland location on the banks of the River Derwent has a long history of innovation and making and now forms part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Wire Works Whisky celebrates its rich homeland and the brewing heritage for which the region is so renowned, and every strand of the whisky making process has been considered in the pursuit of flavour. The Distillery uses local live brewer’s yeast combined with a long fermentation and the copper pot stills were hand-made to the Distillery design - run slowly to add the final character before it goes into the cask. The core expression is lightly peated, which is unique amongst its peers and adds background complexity to the fruit forward new make. Every aspect of production and maturation is done onsite at the Distillery to ensure that the unique location and environment can play their part in the provenance of the final whisky.
